Norbo Ben Ju was born October 29th, 1995. Norbo is a big, strong, absolutely healthy dog with perfectly healthy back, elbows and hips. Norbo has been one of the most influential producing stud dogs worldwide for the original working German Shepherd Dog.
Norbo was on the World Team 6 times during his excellent working career. He was on the WUSV Team 3x's for SchH3 and 3x's for IPO3. He won The International Working Stud Show in Bratislava in October of 2000 where he completed his competition career.
He is extreme in his overall working drives, but has classic German Shepherd temperament in that he has the ability to settle when he has finished working. He has a very positive approach with children and has a wonderful warmth in overall character type towards his family.
His sire Car z Kostoljanskej cesty was one of the most successful producing stud dogs in Slovakia, as far as the number of offspring successfully placed in the Championship competition of working dogs. His dam Norba-Chuna Policia comes from the finest lines of the Pohranicni Straze dogs. The Car x Titus bloodline combination, known to some as the golden cross, produced many outstanding working dogs; Norbo is a Titus grandson through his dam Chuna Policia.
Norbo was trained by an incredibly hard handler that put him through extremely tough training. He is such a hard strong male with perfect nerves, that this training style left positively no effect on his perfect character type.
Norbo is a dog with enormously developed retrieve and prey drive. His prey drive doesn't prevent him from uncompromisingly stopping any attack of any person even without the protective aids for biting.
Now over the age of ten Norbo still loves to work and is found still acting like a puppy at times. When I called and talked to Dari James of Van Den Heuvel K9, now owner of Norbo, one of the first things she told me was that to this day when you hook up a leash to Norbo's collar the first thing he does is jump up and grab a mouth full of leash and starts a game of tug with you.
I had the pleasure of going up and seeing Norbo in person when Dari invited a friend of mine John and myself up to her facility to work and see her dogs. The first time I laid eyes on Norbo I was amazed at the shear confidence this dog exudes! When he saw us standing with Dari he never once took his eyes off of us and the look in his eyes spoke volumes! This dog has NO fear and I truly believe he thinks he owns the world.
When the time came for John to work Norbo it was like watching a living legend coming out of that kennel. I was seriously in awe of this dog's work ethic. This dog is 10 years old and still wants to work as long as they will let him. Below are a few things John had to say about working Norbo.
"Norbo came out of the inside kennel, and was about 50 ft. away from me. The night before when we had seen him in the kennel through the window, there was an obvious confidence in a dog that looked like he was 10 years old. That first look at 50 ft., when he saw me with my equipment on, was the picture of Norbo you see on the Jinopo site. I could see the twinkle in his eye 50 ft. away.
John, Dari's husband brought him up, and he was already firing up. Just me looking at him was all he needed. I agitated him up, gave a couple of run-by's, and then went in for the bite, and he crushed it. The first thing I noticed was that his head occupied the sleeve from my wrist to my elbow, then, I started to notice the pressure. This was a fairly new sleeve, and he was calm, looking at me straight in the eye, and totally full. I started to pressure him, and he absolutely hit another level. He didn't re-bite, he just crunched harder. John outed him, and he was silent until he told him to hold. His bark and hold was totally focused, and rhythmic.
The re-bite was just as the first, the more pressure, the harder the bite...from hard to "I don't know if I can slip this sleeve" hard. He outed again, and we did about a 25 ft. pursuit. I've seen all those videos where he brings Jiri to the ground and I honestly wondered how much acting was in the video. He was not that fast, but he definitely jumped into the bite, and right after he got the bite, he does this neck whip thing, and I thought I was going down. I didn't, but man, I was close. Just fought him a bit, slipped the sleeve and put him away. It was an honor, and a pleasure to work this legendary dog."
Comments to Dari James by the Former Head Of the Border Patrol Breeding Program and Former owner of the Legendary Norbo Ben Ju
"Dari, I personally appreciate NORBO very much especially because of the quality of his offspring. They are strong healthy dogs with enormous working drives. He unquestionably improves upon hips and elbows.
I have many progeny from Norbo and not many dogs can match them in their hardness and grip strength."
Norbo has proven himself many times over as a Top Internationally Acclaimed producing stud male. Below you will find pictures and comments on just a few of Norbo's outstanding progeny.

He was the sire of the Famous T. Ben Ju litter which is a testament to how well Norbo imparts his tremendous biting power, strength of nerves, and height of working drives into his progeny. Within the T. Ben Ju litter you will see Tia Ben Ju who won the World Team Qualifier in 03' and was 8th on the World Team. Littermate Tango, who is a top WUSV/ FCI competitor, and Top working/producing female Trixa Ben Ju who was the # 2 Working female out of the Former Communist Block Region in 2003, and WINNER OF THE PROTECTION PHASE IN THE WORLD TEAM QUALIFIER that same year.
"Reyna is a medium sized female with a high activity level, and clear headed. She has a good natural tracking drive that is very easy to train. Reyna has a high toy & play drive mixed with a natural work ethic and willingness to please. She has everything you would want in a protection dog solid nerve, strong prey, solid defense, and an overall desire to get in the middle of a situation. Reyna has been a pleasure to train at only 18 months she has all the working ability of a 24 month old Male." Patrick Gildea - Training Director Front Range Hundesport
Jiri Novotny on Reyna and Norbo
Your female is a typical daughter of NORBO. She is a nice dry female with proper temperament. NORBO was and still is a great dog.
Best Regards,
Jiri

Geonology of Norbo Ben-Ju
Norbo's blood should be used everywhere where you need to improve health, strength of nerves and the strength of constitution type. His blood will occupy a considerable place in the breeding of working German Shepherd Dogs.
